Alison cares for her 11-year-old son, who has autism, and her 37-year-old brother who has a learning disability and a mental health condition.

Alison has received support from VOCAL for the past three years in relation to her caring role. Through their local carers organisation VOCAL's Wee Breaks programme, Alison was able to enjoy a day out. This allowed her and her husband take some much needed time away from their caring role. They visited the Johnnie Walker Journey of Flavour Tour in Edinburgh.

Alison and her husband were able to make the most of their time away from caring by spending some additional time in Edinburgh, also enjoying a meal out together.

Alison’s experience highlights the positive impact that partnerships like this can have on the daily life of carers.
